The MOFET International Leadership Seminar in Israel for Jewish educators and community leaders (July 1-10, 2014) will deal with issues and models of Jewish leadership throughout the history of the Jewish people, up to the present time, examining the participants' management and leadership styles and helping them promote community leadership in the roles they are currently performing or will perform in the future.

The René Cassin Fellowship Program (RCFP) is a one year educational program on Judaism and human rights for young professionals (ages 25-35). It has hubs in New York, London and Jerusalem, with 12 Fellows in each hub. Over the course of a year, Fellows will gather for monthly study sessions (evenings) that explore human rights through the lens of Jewish values and the Jewish historical experience. The program also involves intensive interaction between the three centers of Jewish life, a 9-day study tour to Israel in June and hands-on internships in institutions working on human rights and social justice issues.

This past year, my colleagues at YU CJF and I spent a lot of time reflecting on the successes and challenges that Yeshiva University’s Counterpoint Israel program has had since its establishment eight years ago. We commissioned Dr. Ezra Kopelowitz and his team at Research Success Technologies to conduct an intensive study of Counterpoint Israel between June 2012 and January 2013.

The Jewish Theological Seminary’s Davidson School of Education runs a full semester-in-Israel program called Kesher Hadash (“New Connection”), which is generously funded by the Jim Joseph Foundation. Kesher Hadash takes ten emerging Jewish educators every year and provides them with a rich, immersive and compelling educational experience in Israel that gives them the tools to graduate from Davidson as Israel educators ready to take on the diverse challenges of the field.

The Tikvah Fund is pleased to announce that they are now accepting applications for the 4th cycle of the Tikvah Israel Seminars for Post-High School Students. The program intends to supplement Israel program curriculums by providing a forum for interdisciplinary study, dialogue, and camaraderie amongst a select group of students. By exposing participants to a range of perspectives from public intellectuals and thinkers, they hope to help develop the next generation of thoughtful and learned Jewish leaders.

On January 20-28, 2014 the MOFET International Channel will hold a study session in Israel on the topic of education for sustainability - MOFET Teach 2014. The encounter will comprise three parts: a study tour on wheels, a conference at The MOFET Institute and a visit to the International Cleantech 2014 Exhibition.

Onward Israel has begun its second year of operation this month, bringing over 500 students on 22 programs from around the world to Israel, with the goal of eventually reaching thousands annually. The ultimate purpose of Onward Israel is to exponentially increase the number of Taglit and teen programs alumni who return to Israel for a transformative identity-building second visit, eventually reaching a stage where such experiences are available to all who want them and become a rite of passage for Jewish young adults throughout the Jewish world.
