For the 26th consecutive year, The Bronfman Youth Fellowships in Israel has selected a group of 26 high school students to be Bronfman Fellows. The Bronfman Fellows participate in an intensive five-week program of study, travel and extensive programming in Israel designed to develop future community leaders committed to Jewish unity.

The recent UJA-Federation of NY communal study provided some very surprising findings about the Russian Jews living in the eight county New York area. They experienced an unprecedented decrease in intermarriage, from 17% in 2002 to 13% in 2011, an almost 25% drop. Mordechai Tokarsky offers an explanation of this phenomenon, a unique experience called the RAJE Fellowship program.

The Melton Centre for Jewish Education announces a new Masters Degree (M.A.) Program. The program is designed for professional educators able to spend a year of studies in Israel. The Melton Centre at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem has designed a new individualized, multi-disciplinary academic program that will take place over the course of one calendar year.

Na’ale Elite Academy Program in Israel offers 9th and 10th grade students who display academic excellence a fully subsidized three year high school program in Israel. The program includes Hebrew Ulpan, all academic studies until graduation, extracurricular activities, full room and board, as well as many other exciting benefits. Aardvark Israel, is a pluralistic nine-month program now completing its second year. The program is affiliated with American Jewish University in Los Angeles. It offers college credits and weekly trips around the country. Eighty Aardvark participants are divided into two groups, each spending half the program based in the South Tel Aviv neighborhood of Florentine, and the other half of the time in the southern Jerusalem neighborhood of Katamon.

The UJA Federation of New York is implementing an innovative plan: 'Birthright Israel for Boomers' - a tourism program aimed at adults that follow the outline of programs already in place for the younger generation. Next week the project's first group including people in their 50s and 60s, who will all be visiting Israel for the first time, is set to arrive in Israel. Many of the 34 participants have children who have visited Israel through similar programs.

This first-of- its-kind academic conference to be held at Brandeis University on May 23-24, 2012, will explore what scholars, practitioners, and policy makers have learned and can learn from Taglit-Birthright Israel, the largest single educational program in the Jewish world today. The goals of the conference are to expand the number and variety of scholars and public policy intellectuals engaged in the examination of Taglit, to explore Taglit as a social experiment in educational innovation, and to review and integrate current knowledge on a wide variety of substantive issues.

On Mar. 20th, 2012 the Knesset marked the establishment of the Jewish World Caucus. The launch event was attended by government ministers, members of Knesset, and representatives of Jewish communities abroad, opening with a moment of silence to mark the murderous attack in Toulouse, in which a schoolteacher and three children were killed. The Jewish World Caucus will be co-chaired by Coalition Chairman MK Ze’ev Elkin and MK Dr. Nachman Shai and will include some forty members of Knesset from all Zionist factions, who will work to advance matters on the Jewish world’s agenda.
